If you’re traveling by train, the Kimpton De Witt offers one of the most convenient locations in Amsterdam. Being just steps away from Amsterdam Centraal, we were able to easily walk to the station with our luggage the next morning. Whether you’re arriving or departing from Amsterdam, the proximity to the station makes it a great base for exploring the city or catching your next train.
Spacious Rooms for European Standards
I opted for the hotel’s larger room, which can accommodate up to four people. For a European hotel, I was pleasantly surprised by how spacious the room was. It had ample room for everyone to relax and unwind after our river cruise. The thoughtful decor in gold and blue added a touch of elegance, creating a welcoming atmosphere.
In-Room Amenities and Comfort
Despite a few minor drawbacks, like the absence of overhead lights (which made the room feel a bit dim) and some noticeable dustiness, I was impressed with the in-room amenities. The robes and slippers provided were wonderfully soft, and I adored the pretty teacups and Nespresso machine for a cozy in-room coffee experience. The rainfall shower head in the bathroom was a highlight, paired with local toiletries that smelled divine—Mom and I even ended up ordering the lotion when we returned home!
Dining at Kimpton De Witt
We enjoyed a lovely room service meal from the hotel’s restaurant, Celia. Though the menu was a bit limited, the quality of the food was great. The hotel also offers a coffee bar where you can grab a fresh juice, pastry, or a variety of drinks throughout the day. The breakfast spread the next morning was excellent, offering a wide selection of delicious options to start the day.
Sustainability and Thoughtful Touches
Kimpton De Witt goes the extra mile with sustainability efforts, providing clear instructions on how guests can minimize their impact. One thoughtful detail I appreciated was the lovely Stroopwafel given to us at check-out—it’s the perfect sweet touch to end your stay!
Would I Stay Again?
While there were a couple of minor hiccups, such as the lighting in the room and some dustiness, the Kimpton De Witt was overall a charming and convenient choice for our short stay in Amsterdam. The front desk staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, and the hotel’s location is perfect for easy access to the train station. I would definitely stay here again, especially for a short, convenient trip in and out of Amsterdam.
